Watching Fireworks

We were invited to watch the 4th July fireworks by some friends whose garden backs onto the Winged Foot golf course (lucky them!). They live in a gorgeous location and they have some lovely friends, we were made to feel most welcome.

T and her son Liam spent the evening running up to the beer bucket, selecting cans and bottles and delivering them to the adults who sneaked them back into the bucket. I think they did this for at least an hour, maybe two! Eventually we had to stop them as they were soaked.

Later on the fireworks started and T was enthralled. He hadn't seen fireworks before and somehow managed to stay awake to watch them. It was hard to take pictures as it was dark but here are a few.

I saw fireflies for the first time. Impossible to photograph with our camera but very pretty. Other bugs were in full force too and despite our bug cream I was badly bitten. I had three bites on one toe, ouch

The fireworks were amazing, almost as good as Macy's and certainly less crowded!

Thanks for the invite Allie and Colin :)
